EU Relocation Support

If you're an EU citizen relocating to another EU country for work, you may be eligible for financial support through the EURES Targeted Mobility Scheme (TMS). This guide explains how to apply, what support is available, and how to avoid delays.

What is the EURES Targeted Mobility Scheme (TMS)?

TMS is an EU-funded programme that supports individuals relocating across EU/EEA countries for work, apprenticeships, or traineeships. It offers financial assistance and practical support to help you settle into your new job and country.

What support can I receive?

  • €600 relocation allowance (flat-rate)
  • Reimbursement of travel costs for interviews (if required)
  • Language training support (if needed for the job)
  • Qualification recognition assistance
  • Additional family relocation support if moving with dependants

Who is eligible?

  • Aged 18 or older
  • EU/EEA citizen (including Norway and Iceland)
  • Relocating to another EU/EEA country for a job
  • Job must be full-time and last at least 6 months
  • Apply before relocating

When will I NOT be eligible?

  • You relocate before applying and receiving approval
  • Job is less than 6 months, part-time or freelance
  • You're already receiving similar relocation funding elsewhere
  • Application is incomplete or missing documentation
  • You don't start the job as planned
  • You're not an EU/EEA national or under 18

How long does it take?

The process can take 2 to 4 weeks. To meet a start date in 2 weeks:

  • Apply immediately
  • Submit a complete application with all required documents
  • Clearly state your start date and job details
  • Maintain close contact with your EURES adviser

What if I only have an offer letter (not a contract)?

That's fine — as long as the offer letter is on company letterhead and includes:

  • Job title, location, salary, and start date
  • A note stating the contract will be signed on the first working day

Submit this letter with your TMS application and notify your adviser about the timeline.

How to apply (step-by-step)

  1. Register on the EURES portal: EURES Application
  2. Contact a EURES adviser in your country (e.g., ANPAL in Italy)
  3. Submit your application with:
    • Offer letter or contract
    • Proof of ID and nationality
    • Bank details and relocation proof
  4. Wait for approval (can take 7–10 working days)
  5. Receive payment directly to your bank account
